We are gearing up for this summer’s 37th Annual Telluride Wine Festival, and we need you!! Now accepting volunteer applications!
Every summer, hundreds of wine enthusiasts, incredible winemakers, foodies, and festival goers gather in historic Telluride for a culinary experience like no other. Telluride Wine Fest offers four days of cooking demonstrations, classes, wine tastings, gourmet luncheons and dinners, the Sunday Brunch on Main Street and the ever-popular Saturday Grand Tasting.
This magnificent Festival relies heavily on the efforts of our wonderful team of volunteers. Together we create an experience like no other! We have fun, work hard, and get a unique view of Telluride’s tastiest festival.
Requirements & Eligibility
Our volunteer team is looking for individuals that:
- Enjoy people, food, and learning about wine
- Are 18 years or older by June 11th, 2019
- Can commit to two 4-hour shifts (approx. 8 total hours) over the four-day festival
- Have completed volunteer application in full
- Can attend mandatory Volunteer Orientation Tuesday, June 26th, 2019 @ 5-7 pm
- Can remain sober for scheduled shifts
In return for their efforts, volunteers are rewarded with free entry to Brunch on Main St. or entry to the Grand Tasting. Volunteers will also receive festival swag including an apron to wear to all shifts, an invitation to our volunteer party, a souvenir Wine Festival t-shirt, and an opportunity to expand one’s own knowledge of delicious cuisine and world-renowned wine. Additional volunteer hours grant access to a variety of other events or wine bottles throughout the Festival!
What Happens Next?
Once you submit your application, you will automatically receive an email letting you know your application has been submitted. After your application has been reviewed, you will receive an acceptance email.
If you are accepted as a volunteer you will receive 4 emails from [email protected]:
- An acceptance email
- A reminder email that the Cancellation Deadline date is approaching.
- An email containing details about your scheduled shifts and orientation (approximately 1 week prior to the festival)
- A reminder email the week of the festival.
Cancellation Deadline Dates
We understand that sometimes ‘life happens’, plans change, and you are unable to volunteer. You may cancel anytime before June 11th, 2018. Simply contact our Volunteer Coordinator directly at 949-395-3943 or [email protected].
If you cancel after June 11th:
- You will be charged a $75 late cancellation fee.
- Medication Exceptions: If you have a true medical emergency and need to cancel after our cancellation deadline date please contact the Coordinator at the number above.
Telluride Wine Festival Volunteer Positions

Captains serve as venue managers for their assigned events. Responsibilities include supervision of volunteers, pre/post-event checklists, vendor communication, and conflict resolution. Some additional hours may be required. Must be available for Captain’s Orientation 6/26/19 at 5pm. Additional benefits include exclusive Captain’s Wine Tasting and additional swag!
Seasoned Volunteers who are ready/able do any job at the Festival and can be called upon to go anywhere and do anything to help provide support to all staff and solve problems.
Volunteers that assist in the collection, cleaning, polishing, and restocking glassware for the festival.
Volunteers especially inclined to assist guests with requests and serve as ambassadors for the event. Must be very familiar with Town of Telluride.
Volunteers that assist our Top Chefs in supplying, preparing, serving, and clean up at demo/prep kitchen locations. Some paid positions available. Please ask Coordinator.
Volunteers that assist at retail locations throughout festival selling merchandise. Job duties include running the cash register, straightening and folding merchandise, and assisting customers. Some experience preferred.
Volunteers ensuring the security of event perimeters, keeping alcohol in designated areas, checking wristbands, and monitoring disorderly behavior.
Volunteers will prepare service space, pour wine and/or serve food to guests, and clean up. Serving positions requiring alcohol service must be 21 years or older.
Set Up Crew/ Movers
Calling all strong and energetic movers, lifters, hangers, painters, carpenters, and willing to do anything and everything laborers. Duties include set up and tear down of event sites. Some lifting of 50+ lbs.
Volunteers assisting with ticketing pick-up, purchase, and will-call. Includes ID checking, customer service, and initial introductions with guests. Some computer literacy is desired.
Volunteers working with VIP guests at special events. Volunteers may be asked to dress up per the occasion.
