Canard Vineyard has been creating handcrafted wines in Napa Valley since 1984. Each year they produce nine limited release single vineyard wines, each one expressing the remarkable complexities of the estate’s unique terroir. Just in the last handful of vintages, they have received over 35 ratings of 90 points or above. Their wines are an expression of soil, minerality, climate and the tension between Old World elegance (French trained winemaker) and the vibrancy of the fruit produced from this historic century old dry farmed vineyard in Calistoga. Canard is dedicated to creating wines of distinction with an emphasis on quality over quantity. All of the wines for this event are under 250 cases. Bodega de Edgar; Paso Robles, CA
Edgar Torres, born in Michoacan Mexico, came to California when he was 8 and grew up in the small coastal town of Cambria. While waiting tables in local restaurants & saving for college, he was introduced to wines from all over the world, which sparked his passion for Spanish Varieties. Beginning as a ‘cellar rat’ when he was 22, Edgar worked his way up, learning how to make wine and develop his own style and flare. In 2005, Edgar decided to take his college savings, buy 4 barrels, and make his first batch of wine – Grenache from Denner Vineyard. This experimental project started it all, and Bodega de Edgar was officially launched in 2007 by Edgar and his wife Erika. Beginning with only a few barrels, Bodega de Edgar now makes 2500 cases, and opened a Paso Robles tasting room in 2015. Edgar’s winemaking philosophy centers around producing wines as naturally as possible. Great wine starts in the vineyard, so he uses all sustainably farmed vineyards to let the natural character of the grapes showcase themselves. Specializing in Spanish Varieties, including Albarino & Tempranillo, Bodega de Edgar also makes unique, eclectic, bold blends.

Château d’Esclans; France
Château d’Esclans lies in the center of the Department of the Var, where the majority of Provence AOC rosé is produced. The land was occupied as long as 2500 years ago when it was probably used as a lookout point for intruders sailing into the Gulf of Frejus. The original château—of which now only the cellar remains—dates back to before the 12th century. In 1201, Gérard De Villeneuve, part of a wealthy family from Marseille, took ownership of the château and the majority of the surface area of the Vallée d’Esclans that would eventually be sold off in lots. Two brothers, Sauver Louis Ranque and Francois Alexandre Ranque, were the next to own the château, known then as Terre d’Esclans.
In 1875, they sold the property to Joseph Toussaint Caussemille, who manufactured wooden matches near Marseilles. In 1955, the Perraud family owned the property until 1994. At that time, it was purchased by a Swedish pension fund that produced a small amount of wine and the remaining grapes were sold to neighboring winemakers. Sacha Lichine aquired Château d’Esclans in 2006. Today there are 108 acres (44 ha) of vineyards. The total proprety has 659 acres (267 ha).
The primary grape grown on the property is Grenache followed by Vermentino. Other grapes include Cinsault, Merlot, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Tibouren. The château is known for its old Grenache vines which produce grapes that offer greater concentration of flavor than do the younger vines. As the elevation to where the lots are situated increases, so do the age of the vines. At the highest elevated lot vines are as old as 90 years.

Llamas Family Wines; Napa, CA
Alejandro Castillo Llamas
Alex grew up in the fields. As migrant workers, his parents followed an annual migratory route from Guadalajara, MX all the way up to Portland, Oregon. Along the way they would harvest fields, orchards and vineyards – everything from Thompson Seedless and Concord grapes in the Coachella Valley to pears, olives and Cherries throughout northern California and Oregon. Although only a child, Alex, like many migrant children, worked side by side with his parents before and after school. His early exposure to the cultivation of crops helped to instill a sense of connection to the land.
When Alex’s family finally settled in Napa, his father and many of his uncles took jobs working the vineyards of Napa Valley – ultimately planting and managing the first acres of what would later become the famed Stagecoach Vineyard which they still oversee today. Alex continued to work alongside and learned firsthand the meaning of terroir and the effect of the environment and management practices on wine grape quality.
Driven to take his experience in the fields a step further, Alex began exploring the world of wine and developed a love for fine dining. Working at restaurants such as The French Laundry and Per Se, Alex learned the importance of precision, care and detail and was exposed to some of the great wines of the world. His passion for wine ignited, Alex decided to pursue his own winemaking venture along with his uncle Oscar Llamas and his wife Lola. Alex honors his heritage by exclusively sourcing grapes from vineyards farmed by his family. In his free time, Alex can be found fishing; hanging out with Chapala, his beautiful Blue Heeler; cooking gourmet meals for his wife, Michelle; and drinking incredible wines!

OAKVILLE EAST EXPOSURE; OAKVILLE AVA, NAPA, CA
Elliot and Harry represent the third and fourth generation of Stern’s in the wine business. Our family has been involved in making wine since the 2004 vintage with grapes grown on the “Magic Mountain” in east Oakville,, CA. The grapes are organically and biodynamically farmed and Marie Laure Ammons is the head winemaker. Our neighborhood represents some of the most sought after wines from the Napa Valley: Rudd, Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Phelps Bacchus, Sir Peter Michael, and Plump Jack to name a few, and we have some of the oldest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the steep terraced rocky iron oxide rich soil which makes up Oakville East.

Peachy Canyon, Paso Robles
Founding vintner and proprietor Doug Beckett expressed his own enthusiasm about Peachy Canyon’s change, saying:
“The Beckett family is proud to announce the appointment of Robert Henson as Winemaker for Peachy Canyon Winery. It’s an opportunity that does not often occur to have someone with such experience and skill join our team. The entire team is eager to work with Robert, and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
This addition to the Peachy Canyon team comes at an exciting time for the winery, which was just named one of the Top 101 Wineries in America by The Daily Meal for the second year in a row. This is in addition to its most recent vintage of multi-award winning wines, including its gold medal winning, multi-accolade 95, 93 and 92 point Zinfandels and Best of Class, gold medal premium Bordeaux-style blend, “Para Siempre.”
Henson brings decades of experience in the food and wine industries to Peachy Canyon. Prior to his stint with Tooth and Nail, Henson worked on his craft with critically acclaimed veteran winemaker Michael Michaud (well known from his time as winemaker for Chalone Vineyards preceding launching Michaud Vineyard in Monterey County). Following his time with Michaud, Henson served as Winemaker for at a small winery in Santa Cruz Mountains where he amassed accolades for a few years before turning his attentions to Central Coast wine country.
When asked Henson expressed his enthusiasm, saying that it’s not every day the opportunity comes along to work for one of Paso Robles’ founding family owned wineries. With a winemaking philosophy that hinges on balance in all things — from art versus science of winemaking techniques to the holy quadrant of sugars, acid, tannin and fruit in the finished product — Henson plans on applying his passions for balance, varietally-correct, and terroir-driven winemaking to Peachy Canyon’s existing award winning wine program beginning with the upcoming 2015 harvest.

Pellet Estate; Napa, CA
Pellet Estate® is a rare, authentically grown, and classically made wine. Henry Pellet was one of the original pioneers of the Napa Valley – his vineyard was first planted during the Civil War in 1863, and is the second oldest commercial vineyard in Napa Valley. We are known for our highly acclaimed and limited production Cabernet Sauvignon from our heritage Pellet Vineyard® in St. Helena, and our Chardonnays from the Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap.
Winemaker Tom Rinaldi is celebrating his 43rd harvest this year, which began in 1978 as the founding winemaker at Duckhorn Vineyards for the first 22 years. Eric Risch, who oversees the winemaking direction, portfolio and day to day winery operations & sales and marketing will be on hand to discuss the newest AVA, the Petaluma Gap, and his passion for wine and food.

Turnbull Wines; Napa, CA
Our small, family owned and operated winery has been rooted in the culture and history of the Napa Valley for nearly 40 years. As collectors of some of the very best parcels of land in this esteemed valley, we are guided by the long view principle of sustainability in everything we do, so that our legacy can be passed down by future generations. We consider ourselves very lucky to have the support of a team of passion and pursuit-driven individuals as committed as we are to preserving the essence of our family-owned, estate-grown business, a somewhat rare opportunity in this ever-changing Valley.
We stand for exceptional, quality wine and a true Napa Valley wine experience, as it should be. We believe in the opportunity to pause, explore, and discover something new every day, and for us, wine should be no exception.

VGS Chateau Potelle; Napa, CA
Jean-Noel Fourmeaux is a 35-year veteran of the wine industry in Napa Valley, yet his winery, VGS Chateau Potelle, is known only by those who search for wines that have dimension, subtlety and definitive character. Their assertiveness is all in the layers of nuances; not in the over ripeness of fruit. “To make mainstream wines has never been my calling!” proclaims Fourmeaux..
Sent to the Napa Valley by the French government in 1980 to “spy” for 6 months, this son of Bordeaux sent a telegram home “Looks good, I stay”.
Jean-Noel loved his home country of France, but felt stifled by the numerous traditions and strict rules. He was inspired by the freedom the lack of rules gave to California winemakers allowing and cultivating great creativity and expression.
Chateau Potelle’s first vintage was 1983. Over the next seven years, Fourmeaux purchased and planted his own 200-acre estate atop Mount Veeder in Napa Valley, and refined his own wine style. In 1990, Chatelu Potelle released the first VGS designated wines. These wines: VGS Cabernet Sauvignon, VGS Chardonnay, VGS Zinfandel and VGS Syrah gained immediate press and consumer acclaim. They were, and still are, different.
The vision at Chateau Potelle is to produce wines of style and character that are representative of their birthplace, just as one’s roots provide each person with a unique culture, set of mores and traditions. Formeaux believes that his job as winemaker is to respect, exploit and enhance the unique qualities of the region’s terrior and to craft wines with a sense of place.
In April 2013, Fourmeaux descended the mountain to open a brand new concept in Napa Valley hospitality. He opened the VGS Tasting House & Garden in St. Helena, the first hospitality center to offer an unparallelled food & wine experience, showcasing VGS wines thoughtfully paired with food bites from the acclaimed Michelin-starred La Toque Restaurant. “We invite our guests to come to a place that reflects the style of our wines … elegant, restrained and extremely well-done in all details. A place in which our attitude resonates throughout … super high quality in a fun, easy, sometimes irreverent but never pretentious ambiance.”
VGS Chateau Potelle wines are available exclusively at the winery, and to taste in Telluride.

Zinke Wines, SANTA YNEZ, CA
We make unapologetic, site-specific wines that represent the land they come from. But at the end of the day, wine is best shared over a good meal with those you love. We just want you to have as much fun enjoying our wines as we do making them.
All that separates you from your dream is an email address found on the back of a wine bottle. Just ask Michael Zinke. After falling in love with the Santa Ynez Valley as a weekend escape while attending culinary school in LA, Michael moved to Los Olivos by way of Tulsa to work a harvest internship. After mentoring under some of the Central Coast’s premier winemakers, he started Zinke Wine Co. in 2012. The rest is history in the making.

Alpha Omega Collective; The World
The distance from Alpha Omega in Napa Valley to Tolosa in San Luis Obispo to Perinet in Spain’s Priorat may be immense, yet common threads bind these three boutique wineries together to form a cohesive and complementary triangle. Vintners Robin and Michelle Baggett ensure philosophical continuity across these sister properties. While each winery is situated in a region where the influence of the sea and stunning, rock-laden soils combine to produce world-class wine, each estate produces wines that are reflective of their respective terroirs and showcase personalities unique to their regions. Alpha Omega’s Bordeaux-inspired releases, Tolosa’s Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, and Perinet’s Mediterranean reds each embody a sense of place from where they originate. In an age of winemaking homogeny, it is unique to experience the distinctive accents of each region while still appreciating the trio’s harmonic familial relationship.

An Evening in Argentina $200*
SECRET RANCH LOCATION
FRIDAY, JUNE 28 6:00PM –
“Asado”are the techniques and the social event of having or attending a barbecue in various South American countries, where it is a traditional celebration. An asado usually consists of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and quail which are cooked on a parrilla, or an open fire. This meat is prepared by the assigned asador.
Don your cowboy duds and join us (no high heels or spurs, please) for our elegant take on a South American tradition. You will be shuttled from either Telluride or Mountain Village to the secret entrance where upon arrival, you will receive some welcome cheer with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne in a specially-designed Chef and Sommelier souvenir glass. During this first hour from 6-7pm, you can stroll the property, grazing and sampling appetizers from iGourmet paired with champagne, French rosé and specialty cocktails prepared exclusively for this event!
As the band draws you enticingly towards the fire pit stage where our Asadors will be preparing the meats, you will be treated to a demonstration of the artistry of professional Asador, Pablo Liberato and other Top Chefs from across the globe. As dinner hour approaches at 7:30, guests are invited into the Aspen grove for a romantic dinner beneath the trees where roasted meats -fresh from the grill- will be paired with Uruguayan wines and gourmet sides enjoyed to the sound of flamenco guitar. The sun sets and the twinkling lights in the Aspen grove lead guests out to the courtyard for a final gourmet dessert pairing before being whisked back to the real world.
